Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has insisted there is nothing sinister in Steven Gerrards latest fitne s problem. The 31year-old was set to continue his return to the Premier League after six months out but had to sit out of Liverpools 2-0 win over West Brom on Saturday after an infection in his ankle flared up on Marcus Semien Jersey Saturday morning. The Liverpool captain has been ruled out of Liverpools next Premier League clash at Swansea as well as Englands two forthcoming friendlies.Pictures showing Gerrard leaving hospital on crutches with his right leg in a protective cast led to speculation about the extent of the problem. However, Dalglish has played down any serious injury woes for his captain.Since they have found the infection he has progre sed extremely well and everything is positive for him, said the Scot.We found the infection but I suppose it is a bit like flu you know youve got it but you dont know where it came from. But it is responding really well so that is positive for him. Theres nothing more sinister either.Liverpool were mi sing the services of Gerrard along with, fellow scous, Jamie Carragher at their win against West Brom, and their remains doubt whether either will be playing for Dalglish at the weekend.Although the Liverpool bo s admits his side will mi s the services of both Gerrard and Carragher, he feels that a strengthening of his side over the last 10 months has prepared his team to cope without them.We will have a rain check on Carra. If hes not going to be right hes not going to be right, added the Reds bo s.I think as a club we are much better with those two fit. They have been fantastic servants for the club and they will continue to be.It is a great achievement for the boys to get a result at West Brom without either of those two playing.
